Accomplishments

  • Met with Monroe to discuss the specifics of the Pilot Plant.
  • Discussed with Monroe about the results of the flocculation results.
  • Performed maintenance on the Pilot Plant.
  • Removed uniform baffles and stored them in secure area in Pilot Plant.
  • Further elucidated on the equivalence ratio between the Filtration Plant PAC dosage and the aluminum sulfate dosage of the flocculation tank.
  • Performed analysis on the turbidity data received from the flocculator at various alum dosages.
  • Repaired vertical setup of the tube flocculator.
  • Cleaned out clogs, junk and flotsam trapped within the flocculator tank.
  • Attempted to repair leak in the tube flocculator with tape.
  • Performed data analysis on turbidity levels for tapered vs. uniform baffle configurations.

Issues

  • Air is still entering the tube flocculator.
  • Bubbles are still trapped in the tube flocculator.
  • Due to low temperatures, incoming turbidity was too low to produce conclusive results.

Outcome

  • Flocculator tank has been cleaned.
  • Tapered baffles stored properly.
  • Determined that tapered baffle configuration produced marginally better turbidity than the uniform baffle configuration.
  • Determined a possible optimum alum dosage based on the Filtration Plant's PAC dosage.
