- Mathcad tutorial
- determineds energy dissipation in flocculator
- met with Alissa to discuss progress
Tuesday 11/18/08 4:30-8:00
- Talked to Tom about tubing, he will order 100 ft of thicker walled tubing
- also discussed electric shock from lamp in tank. Tom will fix short in the lamp.
- replace second section of the tapered flocculator with 13 cm spacing
- set up 13cm uniform flocculator spacing.
- Recorded data for turbidity levels for approximately one hour.
- Data rendered unusable due to clogs in the tubes leading to the tube settlers and turbidimeters.
- Lines into peristaltic pumps were loose and interfered with readings.
- Clogs removed from the tubes and data collection is resumed.
- Collected turbidity data for approximately one hour.
Thursday 11/20/08
8:30-10:30
- added 10 in tapered baffles to end of 1st section
- ran tapered baffle configuration
- marked 10ft 3 in lengths on tube flocculator
- attempted to set up tube flocculator in figure eight but tubing was too stiff
Friday 11/21/08
- talked to Tom about fittings for new tubing and various other things that can be improved (pumps that could work better, etc)
Saturday, 11/22/08 10:30-1
- switched to uniform configuration, checked plants operations(turbidimeters, etc)
- ran uniform configuration
- set up tube settler while collecting data
- ran hot water through tube settler to increase tubing malleability
- examined data from past experiments
Outcomes
- good data for tapered flocculator hopefully
- tube flocculator is coiled correctly
immediate future tasks
- examine uniform data from today
- connect tube flocculator to tank and pump water through
- measure velocity through tube flocculator
