Accomplishments

  • cleaned floc tank Mon, Tues, Weds and Fri
  • checked turbidimeters and cleaned if necessary Mon, Tues, Weds and Fri
  • ran tests with uniform baffle spacing Mon, Tues, Weds and Fri
  • attempted to use peristaltic pump with tube flocculator
  • worked on wiki page

Outcomes

  • created turbidity profiles on Mon, Tues, Weds and Fri
  • improved our method of creating turbidity profiles, by normalizing data and adding more data points
  • plan on replacing soft tubing in the tube floc with rigid tubing.
  • friday's profile inaccurate because tank was not completely full.
  • also cleaning and sampling method varied each test so data cannot be compared
  • two tests on uniform baffles will be run next week with identical cleaning and sampling methods then the uniform baffles will be replaced by the tapered baffles

Issues

  • will need stronger pumps for tube flocculator
  • clear tubing used for tube flocculator seems to be warped, letting air get in at the joints
  • sink to drain flocs clogs easily, so we now pump the water to another drain while cleaning the tank
  • every time the tank is cleaned, the pump that drains the water from the floc tank also drains the sed tank, possibly disturbing the floc blanket
  • need to replace bulb on tank light
