Ojojona Design

The Ojojona plant was completed in January of 2007. Since its inauguration, the AguaClara team has been able to evaluate the plant design and improve upon it. It should be noted that since the project was completed before the implementation of our current documentation process, specific details were difficult to find.

Design Specifics

The dimensions of the plant could not be found, however many changes were made to future designs based on the operation and maintenance of the Ojojona Plant. The following are some of the changes made.

  • Include roof to keep operators dry
  • Do not cover sedimentation tanks with metal doors because of rusting
  • Vertical flocculation is a better method than horizontal flocculation
