Lab supplies are inventoried to make sure we have enough supplies for each team to do their research. Expensive items such as peristaltic pumps and turbidimeters should be checked at the beginning of each semester. The Lab Supplies Inventory Google Doc can be used to track the more expensive items.
It is important to always have pipes and tubing in the lab for teams to use. For pipes, make sure to have:
- 1" PVC (clear and white)
- 1/2" PVC (white)
These pipe sizes are used by many teams so make sure to order these at the beginning of the semester. For tubing, be sure to have:
- 1/4" clear
- 3/8" clear
- 1/2" clear (used less often)
Check the supply of peristaltic pump tubing for wear at the beginning of each semester and through out any tubing that is worn out. 3-stop tubing should always be available for teams:
- orange-yellow
- yellow-blue
- purple-white
If an item breaks over the course of the semester be sure to make a note of what happened and inform Monroe. Try to repair or replace any broken items as soon as possible so students can continue their work.
