LIME DEHYDRATION

OBJECTIVE

Remove water from lime in order to test its purity.

PROCEDURE

1. Weight a glass container.
2. Place 20g of lime into the container and weight it again.
3. Place it in the oven at 105 for two hours.
4. Remove it from the oven and place it into the desiccator for 30 min; take its mass again.
5. Repeat the procedure until the mass value is stable.

RESULTS

The procedure was repeated three times. The difference between the initial mass and the stable value was 1g. It should be noted that the scale was programmed for integers, so the results were not very precise.
Mass of lime: 20g
Mass of weight boat: 2g
Mass of glass: 95g
Mass at 11:30am: 122g
Mass at 2:00 pm: 121g
Mass at 4:30pm: 121g
