Floating Floc Meeting Minutes
Fall 2008 Minutes
September 26, 2008
Accomplishments
- More literature searches were performed
- Consulted with Prof Gossett
- Wrote and posted the minutes
Metrics
- Found a method to keep the floc from rising
Outcomes
- I now have an idea as to how we can solve the floating floc problem. Apparently making a small hole in a down flow free fall water pipe will cause a vacuum to form and put more bubbles in the water. The water can then be sent to a basin where it will have some contact time with the atmosphere. This time will allow the bubbles to come up out of the water and particles. Then when the water gets to the sed tank there will not be air pockets in the flocs that cause them to rise to the top of the tank.
Issues
- There is currently no model to represent this process. I will have to devise one myself.
