Fall 2008 Goals

This semester's goal is to determine the reason why the flocs are rising to the surface of the sedimentation tanks and find a solution to this issue.

Methods of Research:

  • Literature searches online
  • Journals
  • Communicating with plant operators
  • Coordinating with John and Tamar
  • Consulting Chris B from the CU water plant

There will be a reevaluation of methods if nothing substantial is found before October 1st. At this point the urgency of this project will be assessed and it may be postponed till another semester or more experiments could be conducted on the plant to further analyze the problem. If large quantities of information have been found it will be sorted based on relevance and given to Monroe, John or Tamar for feedback. Any promising and feasible ideas could then be applied to the Tamara plant to see if the change impacts the issue of floating floc. Results from these experiments would then be applied to future research.
