Design Team Goals

Summer 2008 Goals

  1. Training - Alissa Diminich will be conducting training sessions to introduce the methods of coding and documentation that are used.  These session will/can cover MathCAD programming used for Design and AutoCAD programs, using the Aguaclara wiki, and some basics of AutoCAD.
  2. Variable Naming Guide - As we began integrating all of the desgin and drawing programs it became clear that we needed a consistent method of naming variables. A Variable Naming Guide has been created to keep track of all variable within any MathCAD program used for the Master Automated Design Program. We would also like this guide to include information about what programs need each of the variables and inputs, what programs output each of the variables, and what variables are based off of design assumptions. In addition to this information gather from the design programs, we will update the guide to include information about which variables are required for the automated AutoCAD drawing of the plant.
  3. Design Programs - With the creation of the Variable Naming Guide, each design program needs to be updated with the new names. While most of this work has been accomplished, we need to go through and check each program against the new variable list to ensure there are no repeats or missed variables. Also each variable added to the guide will have a description given. This will allow the design team to determine if any important pieces of design are missing or need to be updated.
  4. Wiki - The AguaClara site must be kept up to date with any program, goal, or accomplishment changes.
  5. AutoCAD - The current Flocculation Tank and Chemical Stock Tank Programs need to be reworked to handle changes made to the format of input data.  The Sedimentation Tank AutoCAD program will be reworked to reflect a newer inflow design.  Also the AutoCAD inputs file needs to be updated for changes made to variable names from the Design Files, and integrated into the individual plant pieces files.
  6. Documentation - AutoCAD programs written in previous semesters need to be fully documented for ease of future use, it is estimated that between 80-120 hours of work is required to sufficiently complete this goal.
