Design Team Meeting Minutes

Spring 2009 Minutes

April 10, 2009

Working Group: MathCAD

Accomplishments
  • Sed. Inlet Slopes program adjusted so the measurement of the gap between the last plate & the wall is given.
    • This gap will essentially be a fraction of a slope plate.
  • Length of the slopes was altered so the corner closest to the wall determines the length (top of the slope doesn't need to be flush with the wall)
  • Sludge drain width was altered to make sure enough width is given underneath the slopes to prevent breaking.
Metrics
  • The number of actual ports/slopes in the sed tank was being overestimated. Upon review, it was found that the calculation of the port number was based on L.SedMax, not L.Sed (the actual length of the tank).
Outcomes
  • Flocculator program corrected, although the draining system for each channel still needs to be determined.
Issues
  • Other MathCAD issues from the task list are still being resolved.

Working Group: AutoCAD

Accomplishments
  • Skeleton of the sed tank is finished & can now be drawn in AutoCAD.
Metrics
Outcomes
  • Based on feedback from Monroe & Honduras, the position of the inlet drop chimneys needs to be changed so walls are shared.
  • A false bottom needs to be added in the AutoCAD rendering (15cm)
    • The slopes and the rest of the fill are then to be drawn as a single unit
  • Lamella need to be drawn to incorporate the pvc frame
Issues
  • Sed tank AutoCAD Algorithms need to be rewritten, rather than adjusted--just too complicated.

Any Overall Team Comments:

We have updated the Task List based on feedback from Honduras and Monroe.
