The goals for the Chemical Safety team this semester were to research the safety hazards associated with the chemicals used in AguaClara plants and the personal protective equipment needed to prevent accidents and injuries to plant workers. Based on this research, the team created chemical safety training materials that will supplement the current safety training guide used in the plants. The final chemical safety training presentation can be found in the Drive. In addition to these training materials, the team created posters that demonstrate proper use of personal protective equipment, and fire diamonds for the chemicals used in the plants. The team also did some research on whether installation of chemical eyewashes in the plants would be feasible. Finally, the team did an analysis of whether or not closed-toed shoes should be required in the plants, based on the concentration of chlorine being used.
