Accomplishments

• Completed Fluent tutorials: laminar pipe flow, turbulent pipe flow, flat plate boundary layer
• Decide upon the preliminary approach: start from 2D simulation of the cross-section
• Teachin on Thursday; Presentations about AguaClara on IBE conference and Lab demo

Outcomes

• Got more familiar with the interfaces of Fluent and Gambit
• Got more familiar with basic steps of setting up and solving problems with Fluent
• Better understood underlying fluid dynamics and numerical methods of CFD

Issues

• Need the dimensions of sedimentation tank and other design details to define the geometry and boundary conditions in Gambit: refer to the design proposal and make reasonable assumptions based on the problems we are addressing
