Fall 2008 Goals

  • Decide on the turbulence model for modeling our flow (Use K-e realizable or K-w SST)
    • Do literature search
    • Compare different turbulence model with the experimental data of backstep flow
  •  Obtain the Gtheta value from Fluent and compare with theoretical value
    • Use the user defined function in Fluent to add up each individual cell values
    • Further studies of user defined function is needed to carry out this task
  • Analyze the effect of Reynolds number the properties of the flow
    • Use Fluent to plot energy dissipation rate, strain rate, pressure contour etc
  • Model the whole flocculator instead of just one baffle turning
  • Explore the different geometric space
    • Look for optimal geometry that will give a evenly distributed energy dissipation rate
    • Look for geometry that will give the maximum Gtheta
