Alum Dosing Design
Alum Stock
Alum is contained in two large tanks in the middle of the floor.
"Alum Stock Concentration" in Process Controller refers to the concentration of alum in these tanks.
Pumping Alum
The peristaltic pump near the Aguaclara desktop computer pumps alum from the tanks to the flocculation tank. This pump can be turned on and off, but its speed can be changed only by changing the alum dose in Process Controller. (See "Starting the alum pump" on the Troubleshooting Start-up page.
Alum Entrance
Alum enters the influence to the flocculation tank through a thin tube.
