Tamara Construction and Socialization
WORK COMPLETED THIS WEEK
Data from the start of the Tamara water plant is attached
We are still having trouble with rising flocs in Tamara.
The other day there was a problem with the conduction line. The water level in the entrance tank was continually changing and at times went down to zero. They opened the valve in the plant the whole way and the water starting coming with air.
They went up to la chorrera and opened another valve to inject more water, they think the entrance to the conduction line is blocked. Since they did that more water has been arriving at the plant (yesterday July 2nd).
When the conduction line started bringing air again, we started seeing rising flocs and the sludge layer on top of the tanks started forming again. Taking two samples out of the sedimentation tank and letting them sit after about 10 minutes you can visibly see little air bubbles forming on the sides of the bottles and flocs rising at an alarming rate.
There are plans for the engineer and John to do a revision of the conduction line next week to see if the problems with air can be fixed and do a revision of the capacity of the line.
Due to lack of money and lack of new identified operators the capacitation of the Junta and new operators will be July 9th and 10th.
We have been able to maintain a chlorine residual lately. After a few tests of the drip rate of the chlorine CCC it was found that the dosing hose was clogged. It didn't help to just wash it with water, but by washing it with vinagre for a bit the sedimentation in the hose went away. We recommend cleaning the hose every day with water and every week with vinagre.
We hope to bring Alexis the fontanero from Ojojona to Tamara one day to stay with Carlos so that they can share experiences.
