UPI Course

This week Dr. Monroe Weber-Shirk, the director of AguaClara was visiting from Cornell. He gave a weeklong course titled "Tecnologías Apropiadas para Potabilización (Appropriate Technologies for Potabilization)" sponsored by the Universidad Politécnica de Ingeniería (Polytechnic Engineering University) in Tegucigalpa. Most of the course took place in the Colegio de Ingenieros Civiles (College of Civil Engineers) in Tegucigalpa. It covered basic hydraulics, nearly the entire AguaClara design process, and an introduction to the new online design tool. Approximately 50 engineers attended the course, including dozens of engineers from SANAA, several university students and representatives from Aguas de Choluteca and Aguas de San Pedro. Friday, the second to last day of the course, included a field trip to the Cuatro Comunidades treatment plant.
