Accomplishments

• Introduced Colette to MathCad.
• Completed equation to determine the minimum plate spacing!
• Ordered cone for experiment.

Metrics

• Spacing equation based on maximum shear stress.
• Sketch of our first apparatus design

Outcomes

• A minimum spacing for the plate settlers
• We will be using a Vup of 100m/day to create our floc blanket

Issues

• To design a grid to be placed at the top of the cone to facilitate uniform flow.
• We need to order the honeycomb material with four different spacings
• We need to find a settling column and work with Paul to design some sort of platform for it to sit on, allowing tubing for sludge removal as well as influent from the flocculator
