Linear Orifice Flow Meter Calculation of Total Riser Pipe Height

Intro

The program currently does not currently include the height of the riser pipe that is inserted into the fitting. The total height of pipe, the visible height and the portion inserted into the pipe fitting, is necessary for budgeting and purchasing. The equation should include this amount as well as an added height above the last row of holes to account for surges and sloshing. The length of pipe inserted into the pipe fitting is highly variable, research of commerical fittings was conducted to evaluate the relationship between the diameter of fittings and depth of fitting.

Market information

The table displays the realtionship between pipe diameter and depth of the pipe fitting.

Conclusions

The properties of fitting are highly variable. There area several types of flanges(fittings) that can be used with the LFOM and each type has a different depth. FOr the calculations it would be most effective to only include the height of the LFOM that is above the fitting.
