Spring 2016 Contributions
This semester I hope to work in conjunction with my two team members to research and develop a design or prototype of a microbe detector. Since we are a new team we will spend a good amount of time researching microbial detection techniques. Although this is time consuming it is a necessary step in creating a product. In order to make our product applicable to the water treatment plant sites, we will also need to specify our research for low resource detection. Though it may be a stretch, I would very much like to use the sliding colony counting method. However, if the plant operators do not require quantitative information on pathogens, then we will use a absence/presence method instead since it will be a cheaper, easier form of detection. It may be difficult for this team to create and implement our system all in this one semester but at the very least I would like to come up with a prototype.
