AguaClara Engineers Abroad

Students who have worked with the AguaClara project are eligible to apply for a 1 year field assignment to assist with the training and capacity building, technology implementation, performance documentation, and dissemination. The year long terms run from summer to summer with a goal of maintaining project continuity with some overlap with the current AguaClara Engineers. The AguaClara Engineers are hired through our in-country partner organization and are paid volunteer wages designed to cover all expenses. Some language proficiency is required and language skills will be developed with short, intensive language training in country.

If you are interested and would like more information, please contact Monroe Weber-Shirk (mw24@cornell.edu).

Summer Internships

We are exploring the creation of a limited number of summer internships for members of the AguaClara team. There is a new option for obtaining Cornell credit toward the liberal studies distribution requirement for these summer internships

January Honduras Experience

The team travels to the project sites in Honduras during the January intersession. The two week January intersession in Honduras provides an opportunity to present the first semester design work to our partner organizations and to receive their suggestions for refinements during the spring semester. We are also able to evaluate the performance and sustainability of the AguaClara designed water treatment plants that have been built over the past several years in Honduras.
