AKN Web Services version 1.0

  This is the root of all CLO-IS AKN-related web services. If a service is useful to both eBird and AKN, it would reside here. There is no duplication of services between this URL and the eBird web services.
  • ws1.0/ref
    This path contains reference data services listing standard codes.
    • ws1.0/ref/country
      This data service provides a list of country codes. This includes all codes, not just codes for which data is held.
    • ws1.0/ref/subnational1
      This data service provides a list of top level, sub-national codes (i.e. states, provinces). This includes all codes, not just codes for which data is held.
    • ws1.0/ref/subnational2
      This data service provides a list of second level, sub-national codes (i.e. counties, parishes). This includes all codes, not just codes for which data is held.
    • ws1.0/ref/bcr
      This data service provides a list of Bird Conservation Region (BCR) codes. This includes all codes, not just codes for which data is held.
  • ws1.0/data
    This path contains raw data services and reference data derived from raw data (e.g., species lists).
    • ws1.0/data/collections
      This data service provides a list of codes designating data collections that can be utilized where a data collection code is required in an API.
    • ws1.0/data/species
      This data service provides information about what species for which data is held.
  • ws1.0/product
    This path contains non-raw data that has been summarized in some way.
    • ws1.0/product/freqhist
      This data service provide summarized data suitable for making frequency histograms.
  • ws1.0/doc
    This path will contain documentation about the web services. This path is purposely placed within the web application that we will deploy in order to make maintenance of the documentation easier and in sync with changes to the application.
