Overview

Statistics that, in Voyager, were recorded in bibliographic 948 fields are recorded in non-MARC fields in FOLIO. (Batch and automated processes may still record some data in 948 fields.)

Information about transactions (who did what, when, and where), formerly recorded in subfields a, b, d, e and the first indicator, is now recorded in a Transaction data note.

Information about the format and source of acquisition, formerly recorded in subfields f and h, are now recorded as Statistical codes.

Transaction data note

Starting Aug. 13, 2022 this note will be entered in the Administrative note element in the Instance record.

This note contains the date a transaction occurred, the type of transaction, the user who performed the action, and the associated location. Each element is preceded by a text label and a colon (no spaces) and elements are separated by a space.

For example:
date:20210806 ttype:mpost userid:lew235 ploc:lts
indicates that on August 6, 2021, post-cataloging maintenance was performed by Laura in LTS.

The "ttype" (transaction type) codes are, with a few exceptions, the same as the codes used in 948 $b and the macros to insert the fields are the same as well.

To use the macros, select "Add administrative note" in Administrative data section. Put your cursor in the Note box  and type the macro, e.g., comma comma mp

Macros as set up to add this note in the Holdings record will need to be updated in order to work correctly in the Instance.

Statistical codes

The statistical codes for Special format and Source of acquisition should be assigned to the Instance record.

To add a statistical code, chose "Edit" from the Actions menu in the instance view (note that "Edit" is not the same as "Edit in quickMARC").

The Add statistical code button is at the bottom of the Administrative data section, beneath Cataloged date, Instance status term, and Mode of issuance, but above the Title data section.

The codes display alphabetically, grouped by type.

The type (Special format or Source of acquisitions) is followed by the same code that was previously used in the 948, followed by the definition of the code.
