Background: Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Abony (antigenic formula 1,4,[5],12,[27]:b:e,n,x) is a serovar of the O:4 (B) serogroup. 

Animal reservoir: Salmonella Abony is rarely isolated from cattle, chelonians & reptiles, and black-headed gulls.

Geographical distribution: S. Abony has been isolated several times in Europe, and is responsible for a food product recall in the United States.

Outbreaks: Outbreaks of S. Abony have been reported.
