CNF will generally support the two most current releases of Mac OS X. This correlates with Apple's unofficial OS X support policy.

Note that when Apple releases a new version of OS X, it may take some time for CNF to qualify the various applications on the new operating system version.

Office2016 cannot save directly into AFS space. Save someplace else and then copy over the file.

Some AFS files may not be openable if Finder Preview mode is turned on. Turn off FInder preview and use xattrs to delete com.apple.quarantine from the file.

macOS Sierra (10.12)

  • Currently undergoing initial testing, as of 09/23/16
  • CNF Computing currently recommends macOS Yosemite (10.10) over macOS El Capitan (10.11) due to El Capitan operating in a sluggish manner
  • MacPorts - installs with lots of dependencies do not work... try using "ulimit -n" to increase the max number of open file descriptors from 256 to something like 1024
  • OpenAFS has not yet been tested. However, there are some initial reports that the El Capitan version works under Sierra.
  • CORAL has not yet been tested.
