Oliver's notes. Current A&S Comm-supported CommonSpot platform going away so must move our site to new A&S Comm-supported Drupal platform.

Notes

  • Site is at <http://chemdev.as.cornell.edu>
  • Google Docs A&S Comm created; ask them for the URLs:
    • Doc containing A&S Comm's migration-related status and to-do's.
    • Doc created so designated Chemistry staff could cut-and-paste received feedback during department's preview period, to share with A&S Comm.
  • Oliver is away basically all of July. Returns August 2 (Tues).

Next meeting

  • Faculty (and staff?) discussion meeting, hoped for ~July 20 or 21st (as of 6/30/16)

Status

Decisions per 6/30/16 meeting:

Timeline:

  • Within a week, Rob sends email to Chemistry department that site can be previewed, who to provide feedback, feedback desired, and that a discussion meeting has been set.
    • Collect feedback via <ChemWeb@cornell.edu>, etc.
  • About a week later, have the discussion meeting. Aiming for July 20th or 21st, around Rob, Bob's, and Scott's schedules.
  • About a week later, go live. Aiming for August 1st.

A&S Comm to:

  • Add Rob as a site editor. (Rob reported to Oliver that Francine did not had editor rights, even after the training.)
  • Create Google Doc for collecting Dept's feedback. (A&S Comm completed this by the end of the day.)
  • Sherrie Negrea (freelancer retained by A&S Comm) to draft missing text (in remaining 3 landing pages: Home, Academics, and About Us. (Research was done.)
  • Attend Chemistry Faculty (Staff?) mtg presentation, per date arranged by Rob.

Rob to:

  • Set up Chemistry Faculty (and staff?) presentation and discussion meeting. Aiming for July 20 or 21st.

As of 6/28/16 (Tues), just FYI:

  • Scott Haber has not received the key, short texts from Jiwoong or his assignees. (See "To do's".)
  • No email from Jiwoong to the department to start internal review/feedback process. (See "To do's".)
  • No new photos of Davis or Lee to Scott so the Baker Lab building remains as their place-holder. (See "To do's".)

6/17/16 Oliver drafted action and assignment plan, which Lenetsky and Jiwoong approved the same day via email:

  • (1) Solicit feedback to <chemweb@cornell.edu>. Perhaps via an email to all Chemistry folks we want feedback from from Jiwoong, using Scott's "Site Feedback Questions", below (see email for the q's).
    • Status: Not done, as of 6/28/16. Jiwoong was in Hong Kong, expected back in the office ~6/27/16.
  • (2) Have Joyce/ Francine compile feedback per Scott's suggestion below so it can be sent to A&S Comm. (see email to review Scott's comments)
    • Status: DONE. Michael and Oliver communicated this to Joyce and Francine. And subsequently we all attended a training/ orientation session to do smallish updates on the draft site in response to some feedback we might get.
  • (3) Ensure new site clearly has links on each page to <chemweb@cornell.edu>. Consider during the review period a page on the site containing the "Site Feedback Questions", and making that easy to link to from every page.
    • Status: DONE. Scott did as much of this as seemed appropriate to do.

Decisions per 5/31/16 meeting:

  •  Monday, 6/20/16, goal to complete internal review/feedback process.
  •  Friday6/24/16goal date of launching the new site.

Date "assigned"PersonTo-doNotes
6/30/16

Rob, and

A&S Comm

See to-do's listed under "Decisions per 6/30/16 meeting", above.
6/8/16Joyce

Joyce to connect with Floyd Davis and Steven Lee to get high-quality photos. Get photos or get photographs taken by a professional photographer (A&S Comm's contact), and then get the final files to Scott Haber.

Scott on 6/30/16: Image resolution must be minimum of 500*500; 450*515 used for faculty, for example.

Rob understood from Pat that original faculty images found, which implies no missing photos (6/30/16).

Davis thought he might have one already, to send to Joyce (~6/8/16).
