Cornell email and NetID on departure
Issue
Leaving the university usually has someone's NetID access, including access to email, stopped in about 30 days.
Will's status
If Will secures a "leave of absence", retains email for duration of leave.
Also may help with appropriate NetID authorizations, which may assist with some administrative follow-up tasks.
Students going to Northwestern and their status
If a student leaves as a Cornell alumn (gets a Masters degree, say), they retain their Cornell-addressed email forever.
Will's laptop
- Will's Apple MacBook Air is on AD.
- Must be re-configured to self-support mode, if Will is to keep it.

Ryan – When you get a Northwestern NetID, could you request a data storage share? http://www.it.northwestern.edu/research/user-services/storage/research-data.html. If you do not have Will’s NetID and do not yet have a chart string, let me know.

Idea: Sneaker-net data
Oliver confirmed this plan with Will and Ryan on Friday, 4/29/16.
- On a specified day, turn off access to SFS so no one can change files on file share anymore.
- As of 4/29/16, Will thought this day would be around July 15th.
- If group finds they need more than their 1TB within CIT's SFS, Will is fine paying to expand it for the few months they need it.
- All files copied to 1TB ($60-70) USB external hard drive (or larger, if necessary).
- Time estimate to make the copy, if done on campus?
- Roger suggest using tools he recommends to ensure complete copy.
- USB external hard drive taken to Northwestern and data moved to their files storage service.
- Will wants the drive FedEx'd, not carried by group or moving service (as of 4/29/16).
- Once confirmed all data successfully in Northwestern, then turn off Cornell's SFS file share.

Next steps
Ryan: Investigate if Northwestern has a web development service to recreate the two blogs. To expand on the investigation Ryan has already done.
- Oliver recommends asking Northwestern web staff if they think it worthwhile it they are given Admin rights to the group's existing Cornell blogs (via requested sponsored NetID). Perhaps they might find a good way to do a more complete migration, without necessarily recreating as much as currently seems to be the case.
Confirmed by Oliver: CIT can't add value, even if we paid them.
Status
Ryan: Got a Northwestern ID and got a site started. Exported data, but theme and thus look-and-feel (and navigation) did not migrate.
And find out if someone there is willing to Admin group's CU blog, for export work. (request sponsored NetID)

Export group site from CU Blogs using WordPress tools made available within our CampusPress instance.
- Also pullout anything that process misses.
Import into NUBlogs (sp?) using WordPress tools made available within their CampusPress instance.
- Hand-correct anything missing from the export, if necessary.
