How does NMR or X-ray staff add a person to their facility's file share?

How do I add a person to the facility's file share?

Facility staff contact ChemIT with specific information:

  • Include NetID and name.
  • Include which group.
  • NMR only: Specify equipment needed. (NMR's Linux accounts are not done through ChemIT)
    • GC Mate
    • Spectrograph?
    • Other?

What rights do my users have on my facility's file share?

  • Read and write.
  • Accessible fro their private computers.
  • From off-campus, must use VPN.

How does my user access my facilities file share?

NMR: For NMR's share, you need to add your own folder's name to the path, which is usually the PI's last name. For example, in Windows it would look something like:

\\files.cornell.edu\AS\CHM\NMR\Group

Xray: For X-ray's share, you need to add your own folder's name to the path, which is usually the PI's last name. For example, in Windows it would look something like:

\\files.cornell.edu\AS\CHM\xray\Group

See the facilities documentation for more details.
