Phones

Computers and Cornell Network Systems and Software (including email and internet use)

Phones

Business Phones

Land-line telephones in LTS are intended primarily for business purposes.  Aside from unavoidable or emergency situations, the use of these phones for other purposes should be kept to a minimum.  Also, please be considerate of those around you by speaking in a quiet or moderate tone when using these phones.

Please do not make long-distance calls from LTS phones, unless they are work-related.

Personal Cell Phones

Please use your own phone to make and receive personal calls on your own time and away from others, whenever possible.  The 110B Olin office, which does not require a reservation and has a door that can be closed for increased privacy, is a good place from which to make private calls.

For more information on Cornell’s policy on telephone usage, see Cornell University Policy 3.19.

Computers and Cornell Network Systems and Software (including email and internet use)

The University has issued an array of policies and guidelines for the use of institutional hardware, software, and the network systems to which we have access as members of the Cornell community and as part of our jobs.  For a list of these policies, including links, see University IT Policies

LTS staff must keep abreast of unit and departmental issues and announcements by checking their Cornell email regularly and, when required, responding promptly.  Reading and responding to personal email should be done on one’s own time.

For many LTS staff, the internet is an important tool for conducting business and meeting various job responsibilities.  However, use of the World Wide Web for personal business should be done on one’s own time.
