Software: Renewals and changes in support

ChemDraw:

  • Renew now, by the August expiration:
  • A new version was released mid-May, and you are not required to upgrade.
  • CambridgeSoft has dropped support for older operating systems in their new version.
    • Example: The newest version requires MacOS X 10.9 or newer or Windows 7 or newer.

Matlab:

  • MathWorks is will drop support for certain platforms in their next two versions.
    • Example: The newest version requires MacOS X 10.9 or newer.
    • Example: Their next version will require Windows 7 or newer.
    • Example: Their next version is the last version to support any 32-bit Windows.

Other software license renewals:

  • Look for email from ChemIT for renewal notices in the next month for:
    • Matlab, Mathematica, and LabView.

IT service changes and reminders

Wireless service: Use eduroam. No longer use “RedRover”.

The eduroam service also works for many academic visitors here, and for you when you travel.

A new Cornell wireless “Guest” service has recently been added.

CU Blogs: New fee announced by CIT. Also, drastic look-and-feel changes to occur to some blogs.

ChemIT: Use our on-line form to request service from ChemIT. It's easy and fast:
