Brief description of project:

In an effort involving students from every College at Cornell, Cornell University Sustainable (CUSD) is a Cornell student project team that is the creative force behind a number of sustainability projects that you could be a part of including:

 

  • Designing aspects of the NYC Tech Campus including investigating its Solar and Geothermal Power options and working with US Green Building Council (USGBC) connections to make the Tech Campus the beta for LEED ND 4.0 (Sustainable Neighborhood Certification)
  • Creating a new Cornell Outdoor Education building on Beebe Lake as the newest hub of student outdoor activities including Cornell Outing Club, Friends of the Georges, and the making the building one of the Cornell’s new “Destinations” as a portal to the Plantations
  • Evaluate the entire Cornell Campus for the purposes of Solar Technology Renovations, novel roadway applications, and a possible “Solar Island” installation off of the NYC Tech Campus Roosevelt Island
  • Research Novel Wind and Geothermal Technologies for Installation at multiple potential sites
  • Development of a new exhibition for the 2015 Aspen Festival at the Aspen Institute with the US Green Building Council
  • Perform a Hydro Power feasibility study for Increasing Beebe Dam Capacity
  • Prototype a new occupancy monitoring system for novel HVAC control schemes.
  • Develop a new green consumer products metric with Sustainable Minds.

Course Credit and/or M-Eng Project credit are available. Undergraduate and Graduate Students are Welcomed.
