Background: Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Kisarawe (antigenic formula 1,4,[5],12,[27]:y:e,n,x) is a serovar of the O:4 (B) serogroup. S. Kisarawe is a very rare serovar; it appears to be associated with reptiles.
Animal reservoir: reptiles
Geographical distribution: S. Kisarawe was reported in India; however, there is not current evidence of its distribution.
Outbreaks: One outbreak linked with contact with bearded dragons was reported in the US, in this outbreak serovar Cothan was also involved
