Backup proposal for EZ-Backup and/ or file servers
To replace Retrospect backups dependent on Barry's server.

Do sooner than later so not dependent on Barry's server.

~$924/yr

PhysIT to work with staff to enable user files on each computer to be backed up with EZ-Backup.

John approved. Accounts activated with CIT by PhysIT.
~14 systems, @~$5.50 each, so expect ~$77/month

Scanner request, for Kacey.

Get before graduate application transcripts in a month or two? (Color wanted for this work.)

$410
(to last 4 years or more, we expect)

Scanner on order.

John approved. Scanner ordered by Physics.
Current scanner has no drivers in Win7, so only sort of works. Examples: B&W only. No simplex => Double-sided, no matter what.
Kacey needs color capability.

Review email requests: Send to PhysIT@cornell.edu, not individuals, please.

As soon as John is ready.

Pending John's review and send.

John wrote to staff with info.
Oliver wrote draft memo to John (late Fri, 11/15), for John to forward to Physics staff.

ChemIT to re-image computers in coordination with staff on a case-by-case basis. Priority given to computers exhibiting problems.

Completed.

John wrote to staff, 11/18 (Mon).
Oliver wrote draft memo to John (late Fri, 11/15), for John to forward to Physics staff.

Move FileMakerPro files from Barry's server to the A&S server.

Q: Able to do sooner than later? (Since dependent on Barry's server.)

PhysIT to look over current files and develop a proposal for John.

Option 1: Move server to PhysIT, temporarily. Less disruption, less risk. Then migrate to A&S's FMPro server.
Option 2: Migrate to A&S's FMPro server.

CU's contract with Box.com (vs. Dropbox.com, Google Drive, etc.).

Discuss value and practical utility. Applicable to Physics?

Review "Opportunities for improvement". For example:
Securing the network, computer upgrades, support of select systems and software in Nick's area.

On-going.

Although associated proposals and tasks are technically not required for migration from Barry, some task may warrant consideration or action earlier than later.
