Fuller job description

  • Optimize administration of Chemistry's research Linux systems, including servers and workstations.
    • Educate and inform IT staff on Linux-based tools and processes, including alternatives.
    • Investigate and R&D alternative tools and processes
      • Work with group's technical staff to implement in a sustainable fashion.
    • to run Chemistry's high performance computing clusters
    • Demonstrated ability to learn computer software maintenance and configuration skills
  • On the job training so you can:
    • Advise on .
    • Help department staff and faculty at their computers for things you are comfortable and trained to do. 
    • Maintain and update group's documentation for ourselves and users for things you are knowledgeable about.
    • Perform web page edits.
  • Ability to work well with others is essential.

We are interested in candidates who are or have:

  • Excellent verbal skills.
  • Reliable.
  • Ability to work independently is essential.
  • Linux administrative skills.
  • Preferable skills:
    • Administrating production Linux servers and/ or a large number of Linux systems.
    • Use of cloud-based high-performance compute cycles.
