This page is useful primarily if you need to keep your NetID when you leave the University to access University resources ( email, library, VPN, cluster, etc. )  or you need a NetID to access University resources and you will not receive a NetID automatically as you are NOT a new student, new faculty, or new staff member of the University.

CCB process

Renewals

When you receive the renewal notice from CIT for a Sponsored NetID you have sponsored before, decide if you want to sponsor that person again.

  • How soon before renewal expire does the notice get sent out?

If you want to sponsor that person again, simply send the notice to Dept. Chair with your request.

  • If you have more than one to renew, please only send one notice but include all the renewing names.

If Dept. Chair approves, Chair forwards your request to CRCF for processing.

CRCF works with CIT to process your request.

  • Time estimate?
  • Break in service?
  • How does CRCF communicate success/ failure?

New request

Submit request to Dept. Chair. Must include...

  • Reason for sponsorship
  • Expiration date if less than a year is required
  • Form 70 filled out (with above info?)
  • Photocopy or PDF copy of government-issued ID of the person being sponsored

If Dept. Chair approves, Chair forwards your request to CRCF for processing.

CRCF works with CIT to process your request.

  • CRCF must call back CIT to confirm receipt of FAX?
  • Time estimate?
  • How does CRCF communicate success/ failure?

Official rules and documentation

  • CIT's documentation
  • CRCF's internal process documentation (OK to be public (explaining what might take so long?!), or make private?)
  • CCB's list of sponsored NetIDs, by sponsor (useful, if only to us? public or private?)
  • No labels
