More info:  The LCRI for AACR2 22.18A says:

"Place the parenthetical addition directly after the forename portion and before any other addition (e.g., date, title)," which sounds like Option B would be more correct.  However, 22.19B1 says:

"Add the qualifier after the last element of the name."

According to a PCC listserv post dated Jan. 9, 2012 by Ana Cristan at LC's Policy and Standards Division, "we (PSD) determined that AACR2 22.19B instructs us to add the Jr. after the last element of the name, not the cataloger's addition to the name."  Therefore, Option A is the correct formulation.

As noted in the PCC Task Group on AACR2 & RDA Acceptable Heading Categories Final Report (download from http://www.loc.gov/catdir/pcc/RDA-Acceptable-TG.html), "Authority records for personal names that contain subfield |c: RDA uses significantly different criteria for the formulation of the subfield |c than does AACR2."  Under AACR2, subfield c for Jr., Sr. and roman numerals was almost never used, but RDA requires it under 9.2.2.9.5.  We will be seeing many more opportunities to use subfield c/subfield q combinations in our RDA future.

We will be hearing much, much more about subfield c in the 100 when we have intensive RDA authorities training.
