Undergraduate Food Safety program:
Undergraduate students who are interested in food safety typically apply and enroll in the Food and Nutritional Sciences Program at North Carolina A&T State University. Our program does not have a designated "Food Safety" major. However students are encouraged to take related courses such as food safety and sanitation, food microbiology and biotechnology, food preservations and techniques in biotechnology. In addition, undergraduate students have outstanding opportunities available to work and conduct food safety research in the area of thermal and non thermal technology, food processing, fermentation, dairy food safety, food protection/ defense and food toxicology. Students who have interest in food safety/protection research can apply and obtain several scholarship/assistantship. The school of Agricultural and Environmental sciences provide an outstanding undergraduate research scholarship for qualified students (http://www.ag.ncat.edu/research/undergradprogram.html). This Undergraduate Research Program provides a thorough grounding in “real world” research methods. Our students can learn to discover how science is making the world a better place.
