AguaClara engineers are recruited from the AguaClara project team to work as full employees of Agua Para el Pueblo for a 12 to 14 month assignment.
Application Procedure
Send a letter of interest to Monroe Weber-Shirk describing why you are interested in the position and your goals for the year. Request 2 letters of reference and have them sent to Monroe Weber-Shirk as well. Applications are due by Feb. 15 and a decision will be made by the end of March.
Assignment Description
Start date: Between June and early August of 2008
End date: Between July and August of 2009
You will be full APP employees and will be working together with the APP team on a wide range of activities designed to ensrue successful implementation and dissemination of the AguaClara water treatment plants. Examples of tasks include:
*visit potential communities, demonstrate the technology, and evaluate site feasibility
*assist in the construction supervision to ensure that plants are build according to plans
*suggest and test design improvements
*maintain close communication with the AguaClara team at Cornell
*develop training materials and run workshops to train plant operators
Compensation
Your salary will be $1000 per month paid monthly in advance by APP. You will be paid the first $1000 on your arrival at the APP office. If your last month is not a full month your payment at the beginning of that month will be prorated.You will not receive any extra allowance for living expenses, hotels or travel. It is expected that most of your salary will be spent on expenses related to living in Honduras. You will be responsible to pay for your Primary health plan and for Travel health insurance. We have attempted to create a budget that will enable you to save a little bit of money and with careful planning it should be possible for you to pay for one trip home during the year. I encourage you to consider spending the holidays in Honduras.
