Spring 2015 Contributions

I am a sophomore Junior in the College of Engineering. I am majoring currently perusing a Bachelors of Science in Chemical Engineering, and I plan to concentrate in Sustainable Energy. This is my second semester on AguaClara's Chemical Dose Controller team. Last semester, the team worked on the CDC set up manual as well as coming up with new design iterations of the Constant Head Tank. Toward the end of the Fall 2014 semester, the team began testing the system's headloss. This semester, I will continue testing for headloss and flow rate, but now I will vary the design iterations of system. Also, I will analyze the CDC setup in Honduras and compare the results with the results from the process in Cornell's lab. Finally, I will establish calibration columns for the system.continue and work for a Masters in Engineering degree. This is my third semester on AguaClara. During my Sophomore year, I was on the Chemical Dose Controller (CDC) team. The work that the team accomplished on the CDC  team included establishing a set up manual, redesigning the tank for greater structural integrity, and reducing manufacturing costs. The team also looked into various methods of product packaging and system standardization. Throughout the year, the team would test for fluid head-loss and doser accuracy with different system iterations. This semester, I am on the Countercurrent Stacked Floc Blanket Reactor team. The goal of this team is to ultimately design a series of reactors that can remove Arsenic and Fluorine from influent water through a gravity powered system and Polyaluminum Chloride as the binding agent. This semester, the teams plans to draft design models to test the pressure drops and create a sample prototype. Furthermore, the team plans to look into literature and consult experts to improve the efficiency of the design
