Objective: To identify Data centers are one of the largest and fastest growing consumers of electricity in the United States. EERL has an ongoing project to develop strategies to improve the energy efficiency and utilization in commercial-scale datacenters

Background: We are working with a leading U.S. telecommunication company to develop a new corporate strategy to managing the energy systems in its datacenters.

Scope of Work: MEng students will work with PhD students to review the current practice in datacenter energy management, analyze/model the datacenter energy systems, and seek a game changing improvement in the company’s current approach to datacenter operation. EERL members have visited five data centers, and has selected a data center in New Jersey as a test bed. We are looking for highly motivated students to participate in energy system monitoring, analyzing data collected, and modeling different energy systems components.
