This semester I am on the Turbulent Tube Floc Flocculator team. We hope to finalize the design of and fabricate a turbulent tube flocculator for researching turbulent conditions - primarily the limited growth flocculation hypothesis. So far we have determined that our standard solenoid valves deliver a flow rate of roughly 67 mL/s, which would not be sufficient for our design (which requires 101 mL/s). Nearly all design work is complete. Sample materials for several parts of the plant have been ordered and are being tested. Construction of the main flocculator apparatus will begin in the next couple weeks.
