Program Information

Library Service Awards Brunch

Library employees who have worked for the University for 10 or more years.

An annual event hosted by the University Librarian each summer. Each employee with 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 or 45 years of service is invited to attend this event with their supervisor and department head.

University Service Awards Recognition Dinner

Non-academic employees who have 25 or more years of service at the University.

An annual event hosted by the Cornell University President each spring. Each employee with 25, 30, 35 and 40 plus years of service is invited to bring a guest and be recognized with dinner, a gift and is featured in a booklet. After 40 years, the employee may attend every year and will continue to receive recognition gifts on their 45, 50 and 55 year anniversaries.

CUL Innovation Award

Regular full-time or part-time CUL employees. Both individuals and groups are eligible.

This award is given during the Library Service Awards brunch to an innovative performer who is nominated to receive the award. A supervisor or a staff member may submit nominations for individual or team efforts. The University Librarian will review the nominations and make final award(s) decisions.

Outstanding Performance Award

Non-academic employees nominated by their supervisor or library staff member

An annual recognition award is given during the Library Service Awards brunch to an outstanding performer who is nominated to receive the award. A supervisor or a staff member may submit nominations for individual or team efforts. The University Librarian will review the nominations and make final award(s) decisions. 

Fuerst Outstanding Student Employee Award

Undergraduate Library Student Employees 

Annual recognition presented to 5 student employees at a reception during the spring semester. All nominees are invited to attend. A committee of library staff members reviews the nominations. Each winner receives a $500 award. Finalists will be given a small gift.

George Peter Award for Dedicated ServiceAll Cornell staff who are employed on a full-time basis, or have been designated half-time for a period of five or more years, are eligible for consideration for this award.The Award is presented quarterly to Cornell staff members who consistently demonstrate a high degree of excellence in the performance of their duties and who prove their willingness to extend themselves to help others and go above and beyond the normal expectations of their job responsibilities.
Opperman Award for Staff Advocacy (OASA)

All Cornell staff, faculty, and academic professionals are eligible for consideration for this award. Nominations can be submitted by staff only.

The OASA is awarded on a bi-annual basis. Award recipients will be recognized at an EA recognition event and will receive a monetary award funded through the Office of the President.
Employee Assembly Staff KudosStaff employees at Cornell who are observed going “above and beyond”.Staff Kudos will be published with the next edition of EA News. The Kudos giver and receiver will also be invited to an EA Staff Kudos luncheon at the end of the academic year.
High Five Employee Recognition ProgramOpen to all Cornell University staffThis program centers around low cost/no cost rewards, peer-to-peer recognition, and awards recognizing contributions from individuals, managers and those working on diversity initiatives.
Staff Graduate ReceptionEmployees who have recently received a degree.This event promotes the University's pride in those employees who achieve their educational goals while also maintaining their job responsibilities.
