Committee on Institutional Cooperation (CIC), US, Jim Mullins, Dean of Libraries at Purdue University

Mullins has over 35 years of library experience. He came to Purdue in 2004 from MIT, where he was associate director for administration. Prior to MIT he held senior administrative positions at Indiana University and Villanova University. Dean Mullins received BA and MALS degrees from the University of Iowa and the PhD from Indiana University. Mullins has served been at Purdue since 2004; prior he held positions at MIT, Villanova and Indiana Universities. He servied in leadership positions within the American Library Association (ALA) and the Association of Research Libraries (ARL), and is including a term as member of the ARL board of directors and is past-chair of the ethe e-Science Working Group.  He received his bachelor's degree in religion and history and his master's degree in library science Internationally, he has been active in IFLA's Science and Technology Section, a board member of IATUL, and a founding member of DataCite. He received his undergraduate and MALS degrees from the University of Iowa . He received his doctorate in library administration, with a minor in higher education/law, from Indiana University.and a PhD from Indiana University. His research interest is in data management and the role of library and archival sciences in data organization and preservation.
