Plate Settler Spacing

AguaClara uses parallel plate-settlers, also called 'lamella', in its sedimentation tanks. The various parameters of the lamella (i.e. the inter-lamella spacing, the plate length, the influent/effluent flow rates) are dependent on one another. Accounting for these, and other parameters, the goal of our experiments is to produce significantly low turbidity water with a limited area of active lamella. The plate settler spacing research team is committed to providing a deeper understanding of the sedimentation process. To learn more about the progress of the plate setter spacing team check out the Goals and Meeting Minutes.

The Plate Settler Spacing Team focuses on optimizing the spacing for the plate settlers in the sedimentation tanks with the goal of removing the colloidal particles. Simultaneously, minimal spacing will lead to lower the height of sedimentation tanks, which reduces construction costs.
