Spring 2009 Semester Contribution

I have become familiar running and troubleshooting the Pilot Plant vertical flow hydraulic flocculator. I have been working on getting the tube flocculator running this semester so that it can be used to collect data. I have been coordinating the Pilot Plant team meetings and trying to keep the group on task. I have tried to provide a comprehensive flocculator maintenance section on the wiki page so that future semesters do not have to spend as much time relearning the nuances of running the tank at the plant maintenance. This information on this page has been taken from Carol Serna's thesis and my experience this semester. I believe it can be improved with images. I have worked on the organization and composition of the sed tank and flocculation wiki pages on the pilot plant site. Hopefully I have been able to pass along my knowledge of some of the more technical aspects of the plant from 454 to members of the team. My team has begun conducting tests on the uniform vs. tapered baffle configurations. We have run into several obstacles collecting accurate data while running the tank. I hope to concentrate more on getting the tube flocculator running as soon as possible so we can begin collecting data when FReTA is readyam on the Chemical Dose Controller/ Rapid Mix Design Team this spring semester. I have worked on the MathCAD file to design the nonlinear Chemical Doser which we are in the preliminary stages of building. I have worked on the design and calculations for the rapid mix tank at the Gracias Plant and the incorporation of the design into the Master Program. I have worked on the wiki report for both the nonlinear doser and the rapid mix design.
