Summer 2013 Contributions
I am was a member of the Ram Pump team for the 2013 Summer internship program. The main goals for the team this summer are to improve the stability of the inlet structure, improve the connection to the needle valve, create a mathematical model of how the ram pump functions, and design a waste valve that can be easily adjusted when needed. I contributed to the ram pump by helping to repair leaks and designing a more efficient waste valve. I helped preform tests and discussed with my team about how to interpret the results. I also helped construct a new drive system that would allow for the team to test a wider variety of drive flows.
Fall 2013 Contributions
As a member of the Ram Pump team for the Fall 2013 semester, I assisted the new team in becoming familiar with the ram pump. I gave detailed explanations on the research that had been done over the summer as well as suggestions for further research. I also helped design and construct a new apparatus for testing the ram pump.
