I am a member of the Plate Settler Spacing Team - in the CEE 4550 class. As always, the work has been fun and interesting as always.
Summer 2009
I am a member of the Floating Floc Team. For the past 4 weeks, most of my contributions include helping my team members assemble and debug the current setup, as well as helping with compiling and editing the task list, research proposal, and teach-in. I have been updating the team's wiki pages when necessary. Together with my team members, Tanya Cabrito and Shaina Khan, we have worked mostly on fixing the current experimental apparatus and ran 2 experiments to replicate the results from last semester. The work has been really interesting.
Spring 2009
I'm on the Design team, and throughout the first half of the spring semester I've been working mostly in with MathCAD. In the beginning, I was helping Heather Reed with the spreadsheet of specifications for the Gracias plant, one of the largest AguaClara plants, with the flow rate of 300 L/min. I also updated the description for the 4 Communities plant on the Design Team Wiki page Quatro Communidades plant. Additionally, I updated the Fluid Functions section in our MathCAD Master Program file with the formula, based on Monroe's comments, which calculates the area of a floc port with given energy dissipation rate to ensure that flocs will not break up.
I also created Automated materials list, which calculates the total length and the total number of various system components. Additionally, I documented the Sedimentation Tank Dimensions.
