The Heading Widget provides a way to add headings to your pages. These are used to separate major areas of a page.
Common Steps for All Widgets
- login
- view the page you want to edit
- click Edit button
General Guidelines
- The Page Title is by default an H1 heading, all headings on your page should be H2 and any sub-headings in the H2 section should be H3.
- Do not use bold or italics as a substitute for a heading.
- Do not skip heading levels. Proper order of headings helps screen readers understand the structure of the page.
Add Heading
- click Click the plus sign where you want to add the header
- select the heading widget (highlighted in yellow)
- a text box is displayed
- type in the heading
- on the left of the text field to open the widget selection window.
- In the Standard widgets section, select the HEADING widget
- Anything entered in the text field will now be treated as an H2 header. Type in the text for the heading:
- Click Save changes button to save and view the page.
- To create a third level heading H3, do not use the header widget but rather use hashmarks (###) in the text field before the text. This level heading should only be used for sub-section after H2.
Do not skip levels or this can upset the hierarchy making it difficult for screen readers and search engines to understand the structure of the page.
