The Heading Widget provides a way to add headings to your pages. These are used to separate major areas of a page.

Common Steps for All Widgets

  • view the page you want to edit
  • click Edit button

General Guidelines

  • The Page Title is by default an H1 heading, all headings on your page should be H2 and any sub-headings in the H2 section should be H3.
  • Do not use bold or italics as a substitute for a heading.
  • Do not skip heading levels. Proper order of headings helps screen readers understand the structure of the page.

Add Heading

  1. Click the plus sign on the left of the text field to open the widget selection window.

  2. In the Standard widgets section, select the HEADING widget
  3. Anything entered in the text field will now be treated as an H2 header. Type in the text for the heading:

  4. Click Save changes button to save and view the page.

  5. To create a third level heading H3, do not use the header widget but rather use hashmarks (###) in the text field before the text. This level heading should only be used for sub-section after H2.
Do not skip levels or this can upset the hierarchy making it difficult for screen readers and search engines to understand the structure of the page.
