Fall 2016 Contributions

This fall I am was a member of the prefab 1L1 L/s subteam. Our semester goal is to construct a second 1LWe were tasked with constructing a new 1 L/s plant with a focus and to streamline and improve production methods. We hope to research flocculator designs for the new plant and determine structural integrity without additional support in addition to its constructionthe fabrication process as a whole. I was a primary actor in preparing the sedimentation tank and the fabrication of the base plates for the plant. For the base plates, I helped figure out the correct geometry and create a pattern to expedite the creation of future base plates. I have also gotten the sedimentation tank cut to the correct specifications. I plan on staying for the 16' winter break to complete the build of the plant as well.

Spring 2016 

As a member of the 1L/s testing team I made contributions to complete the construction of the second 1 L/s plant and take steps for testing in the future. This included finishing construction of the sedimentation tank, redesigning the entrance tank and LFOM, as well as redesigning the flocculator and orifice flocculation system. Our team was also in charge of starting explorations into tapered a flocculation system to address issues found when testing the plant in the field. The plant should be ready for full testing in the fall.
