"Hold for Authentication" Printing Problem

If your job is not printing and the print queue is showing a status of "Hold for Authentication", this usually means that you incorrectly entered your username/password and saved that incorrectly entered username/password in the Mac KeyChain.Image Removed

  1. Click the 'refresh button' on the right end of the print job (in the graphic below, you see a print job called 'test', then the 'X' cancel button, then the refresh button)
  2. You will then be prompted for your CNF username and password.

Incorrectly Saved Username and Password in Keychain

  1. Open the "Keychain Access" program in Applications - Utilities
  2. In the top left pane, select the "Login" keychain (this should be the default)
  3. In the bottom left pane, select "All Items" or "Passwords"
  4. In the search box on the top right, search for the name of the printer (eg cnf-prnt250lj)
  5. Right click or Control-click the item and choose "Delete"
  6. Delete your print job from the print queue
  7. Try printing again. You will be re-prompted for your username and password.
